Title: Wheelchair Basketballers Benefit from Race
The wheelchair basketballers from Titans Basketball Club were one of the sporting groups to benefit from the 2010 Galway City Marathon.

Titans Basketball Club was one of the sporting organisations to benefit from the 2010 Galway City Marathon. The organisers set aside €5 from each race entry fee to support the international charity GOAL, Irish Schools Athletics and local sports clubs through the Galway City Sports Partnership.

Titans Basketball Club, Basketball Ireland's Club of the Year in 2006, is one of the largest basketball clubs in the country and boasts of a wide ethnic diversity with members from over fouteen countries. Additionally, the club has male and female teams from the ages of 6 years to 56 years and two wheelchair basketball teams.

The wheelchair teams received a gift of extendable mobile backboards and rings from the Galway City Marathon.

The standard height for basketball rings is 10ft but this poses a challenge for underage wheelchair players whereas the new rings allow that height to be brought down to a more manageable 8ft.

The Galway City Marathon organisers were delighted to support these players in their athletic endeavours.
